WELLINGTON (PA SPORT) - New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori admits he continues to rely on predecessor Stephen Fleming for advice.
The new Black Caps skipper did not seem to sound out Fleming, the Kiwi's captain for a decade, during the nine wicket win in the first test against Bangladesh earlier this month.
But the all-rounder said he had consulted the veteran batsman for advice.
"It's just getting the balance right," admitted Vettori. "We're just sort of working through that relationship at the moment and it seems to be going well.
"With his (Fleming) experience, he knows most situations like the back of his hand, so it's always nice to call on what he's got to offer."
Mark Gillespie is out of contention for a place in the squad for the second Test, having suffered a recurrence of his shoulder injury after taking three quick wickets for Wellington Firebirds in the State Shield.
Iain O'Brien, another Wellington bowler, Michael Mason and Jeetan Patel will challenge for a place in the Kiwi attack alongside Vettori, Kyle Mills and Chris Martin.
Bangladesh will rely on their full squad to pick a match-day XI at the Test, starting at the Basin Reserve on Saturday.
